The rate of security service personnel abusing civilians has become very high and there's a rampant abuse of the uniforms of the Ghana Police Service most notably with regards to an unfortunate incident that happened on 17th of July,2016 around 2:00pm when two Policemen parked a motor bike around "Abeka Because "and a gentleman was admiring the police's bike that is supposedly said to be part of the presidential motorcade and tried his hands on the acceleration of the motorbike.He reportedly tempered with the accelerator of the motorbike. According to residents of the area,the victim tried his hands on the motorbike in the presence of one of the policemen who was not in uniform.The case of the policemen was that he attempted to take off with the bike which according to eye witnesses was not the case.The victim was with a foreman with whom they were undertaking a masonry job in the area.
And when this was going on the other policeman a certain Officer Aseidu from the Ghana Police Service came and asked the guy why he commited that act.He , the Officer Asiedu took the victim through a degrading punishment to roll on the ground and also giving him some lashes whiles he was rolling .
This treatment meted out to a citizen of the country was very unfortunate and an unacceptable.The police as we were taught,were supposed to be friends of the public but they have become the public's biggest nightmare.
Appropriate action should be taken against the culprits regardless of who they are.
