15th July, 2016 a coup d'etat attempt was launched in Turkey.It was confirmed by both Binali Yildiri(Turkish Prime Minister)and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan .This was allegedly organised by a fraction within the Armed Forces,the perpetrators announced the creation of a Peace Council that will take charge in the Administration of the country.
President Erdoğan called on people to take to the streets against the attempted coup. Civilians were seen trying to cross Bosphorus Bridge but were fired upon by military contingents controlling the bridge. Shots were heard near the airports in Ankara and Istanbul.
